Tencel is as soft as silk. This natural synthetic fiber is made from wood pulp from eucalyptus trees and other deciduous trees grown in special forests managed according to FSC-certified sustainable forestry guidelines. These forests are often located on lands unsuitable for agriculture due to poor soil fertility. However, eucalyptus thrives in such areas, making optimal use of the land. This makes the production of lyocell fibers more sustainable compared to other wood fibers, which often rely on endangered tree species.
Sustainably produced:
The main area for improvement in the production process is the relatively high energy consumption. Fortunately, there are many significant advantages to balance this out. During tree cultivation and production, both water and chemicals are captured and reused. Thanks to this Closed Loop system, lyocell or Tencel fabric is completely free of chemical residues. This makes it skin-friendly and biodegradable.
